A Candle And A Gun

A candle and a gun can is more effective than a candle on its own.

January Steel Target Specials From MGM

Local target manufacturer MGM Targets has announced a January sale on both their AP8 Automatic Resetting Target and the MGM Spinner.  Sale pricing on these targets and other January specials can be found here.

2012 is going to be a good year for some lucky MGM Targets customers with their year long customer appreciation contest.  Every purchaser of one of their monthly specials will be entered in a drawing for an extensive list of substantial prizes.  They are holding the drawing every month for all of 2012 with all new entries every month.

H/T to Joe Huffman who has more details on the prizes.

First Post!

Well, first post of the new year anyway.  I don't have much to say right now besides Happy New Year, but it's been a little quiet around here the past month, so I just wanted to get back into the habit of clicking the Publish button.

Add Furious Mike To @CSGV Insurrectionist Timeline

Furious Mike is reportedly making claims that the NYPD is his own private army. Funny that I can't seem to find him on the CSGV Insurrectionist Timeline.  It's enough to make one think there is an ulterior motive behind their published agenda.

Idaho Open Carry Hits The Road

The newly formed non-profit organization Idaho Open Carry is hard at work traveling around the state to educate Idahoans about their firearms rights. Among the goals of their mission, Idaho Open Carry aims to inform citizens about the Idaho constitutional right to openly carry a firearm and the laws pertaining to open carry.  The group stresses the importance of etiquette and intends to provide safe gun handling instruction for those without firearms training or who have not open carried.

I talked with the group's founder, Tony, on Saturday at the Lewis Clark gun show in Boise.  One of the more common things he heard from people stopping by his booth was that they didn't know it was legal to open carry.  Having been a concealed carry license holder for over fifteen years, I often forget that there was a time when I was unfamiliar with my state's laws on firearms. He reported a fair amount of support, even from folks who weren't interested in pursuing open carry themselves, but vigorously support the right to do so.

Look for Idaho Open Carry at the Lewis Clark gun show on November 19 & 20 at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds in Lewiston Idaho and the Pocatello Gun Show on December 3 & 4 at the Idaho State University Campus, Student Union Building.

If you get a chance to stop by the Idaho Open Carry booth at either of these gun shows, be sure to tell them that Link from Peace, Love & Ammunition sent you.

Bleg: Pro Gun Humanitarian Aid Group?

The Idaho Citizen's Defense League has a participating team in this year's CROP Hunger Walk.  Donations will go by default to the host organization, Church World Service, or you can select a different international humanitarian organization from a list.  I noticed the Adventist Development and Relief Agency near the top of the list and considered choosing them, since some family members are Adventist.  Then I saw this official statement on the church's website.  While the statement was adopted on July 5, 1990, it is still prominently featured on the church's official statements page.  That position is incompatible with my beliefs, and with IDCDL participation being planned as an open carry/concealed carry event, it is doubly incompatible.  With that flag raised, I searched for information about the default organization, and learned that they are an NGO that has commissioned and distributed anti-firearms films.

I would like to participate in the IDCDL's open carry effort in this event, but I cannot donate money to a charity that actively opposes firearms ownership.  I realize that it may be a tall order to find a US based international humanitarian organizations that is pro-gun.  Do any readers know of any US based international humanitarian organizations that are at least not actively anti-gun?
